About

Biography

Didier Schweizer graduated in industrial design from the École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (écal). He participated in workshops for IKEA, Axor, and Christofle, and has collaborated with designers such as Barber & Osgerby, Costantin Boym, Jerszy Seymour, and Pierre Charpin.

He then moved to Milan, Italy, where he worked with the studio led by architect Mario Trimarchi. As an industrial designer, he developed products for international companies such as Alessi and Artemide. His work included projects ranging from kitchen utensils for COOP Italia, beauty cases for the Italian cosmetics brand Deborah, to faucets for the Finnish company Oras. He also contributed to the design of spaces and scenographies for museums, exhibitions, and shopping centers, including supermarket layouts for COOP Italia, installations in London, New York, and Milan for Alessi, as well as exhibitions for Italian cultural centers. Alongside his professional work, he practices photography and illustration, exploring themes unique to his artistic imagination.

Perhaps thanks to his Swiss origins, he pays particular attention to details and finishes. Always open to compromise, his choices represent layers that come together to form a harmonious whole. His work reflects his attention to the environment, both formal and subjective. His gaze gently observes the elements that compose our landscapes, urban or natural, drawing subtle inspiration to enrich his work.

Manifesto

Design is the best way to give an object its own identity.

Design has evolved over time and is no longer only a translation of the relationship between industrial production and the consumer. New technologies, the democratization of production processes, and the internet have greatly expanded the field of design. Today, it represents both the conception of the intrinsic object and the image it projects across various media. Design is a language and must be treated as such.

The designer’s scope of activity should follow certain principles:

Details. Every idea is the beginning of a process. This journey develops and reaches its conclusion in the resolution of the smallest details.

Sincerity. The project must be carried out while respecting the client, the consumer, and the environment.

Serendipity. The ability to seize a new unexpected opportunity. To remain alert and attentive to the world around us.

Longevity. Each of our actions is part of an ever-growing timeline. However, it is important to consider our contribution over a long and humble timespan.
