I am currently working with the NCS (Natural Colour System) atlas. This comprehensive colour chart is based on colour perception rather than colour mixing. One of its advantages over the Pantone system, for example, is that it is possible to represent the colour solely by its code. Mainly used in architecture, this classification system allows you to precisely define a shade and then use it as a reference for the various media used.
